Lunchtime Alternatives

How to make work lunches more exciting with a salad in a jar or for the winter time a hot treat.

How many times have you wanted something different to take to work for your lunch?

I always got tired of sandwiches really quickly as I am not much of one to eat a lot of bread. Canteen food is usually not the nicest and is also very expensive.

A brilliant idea is to make a salad in a jar. It is quickly made, tastes excellent because you only put in it what you really like, and it is easily store in the refrigerator until your lunch time arrives. The lid ensures that there will be no leakages and it is an excellent, healthy and nutritious meal idea to take with you.

The process is really simple as you can see by the following diagram.

Just put a little of your favourite homemade dressing in the bottom and then place in the layers of your choosing and top off with fresh salad leaves.

As you are on your way to work the dressing will gently mix though your salad without mixing everything up.

Standing your salad jar in the fridge will ensure that the salad leaves do not become soggy as the excess dressing falls to the bottom of the jar until you need to eat it.

To redress your salad simple turn the jar upside down before opening it.

In the cold winter weather why not replace the salad with some homemade soup, stew or bolognaise.
